ALPINA XIMO 2 MIPS Children’s Bike Helmet

The XIMO 2 MIPS children's bike helmet from ALPINA is an ideal companion for your child on a cargo bike as well as on a balance bike or their first bike. It was specially developed for small children with a great urge to move. You focus on the safety of the helmet, because you want to protect what is most important to you. The children's helmet has therefore been equipped with the tried-and-tested MIPS impact protection. A bike helmet with MIPS impact protection is particularly useful for children travelling on a cargo bike or in a bike seat. This is because the height of a fall and the forces acting are significantly higher than in a fall at low speed. The MIPS layer on this children's helmet is integrated into the height-adjustable 360° fit system to ensure an optimum fit and safety. Thanks to its INMOLD construction, the bike helmet is also very light and therefore particularly comfortable to wear. And you know: Your child focuses on the look and comfort, because they only wear what they like and is comfortable to wear. That's why this children's helmet scores with its shape, colour and style. It's simply fun. For everyone. So get on your bike.

Highlights & Technologies:

RUN SYSTEM ERGO FLEX MIPS:
This clever fitting system combines the proven MIPS impact protection with an individual, smooth and height-adjustable fit for your head.

WHAT IS MIPS?
MIPS (Multi-Directional Impact Protection System) is a slip-plane system within the helmet. It is designed to rotate inside the helmet and thus slow down or reduce the impact energy acting on the brain, which helps reduce head injuries caused by rotational impacts.

WHY IS MIPS IMPORTANT?
When a head rotates quickly and comes to a sudden stop, the rotational acceleration may cause the brain tissue to experience high levels of strain. This stretching of the tissue caused by these motions may result in various types of brain injury. MIPS is designed with the intent to address rotational acceleration from impact.

HOW DOES MIPS WORK?
MIPS uses a slip-plane system that moves inside the helmet, mimicking the brain’s own protection system. This layer is designed to rotate inside the helmet with the intent to potentially slow down or reduce the amount of energy transferred to or from the head. Science tells us that if we can reduce the strains associated with rotational acceleration, we might reduce the risk and severity of brain injury.

INMOULD:
The liner is fused with the outer shell under high pressure and strong heat for a lasting connection. This makes the helmet very robust and lightweight.

HI-EPS:
The inner shell is made from High Expanded Polystyrene with numerous microscopic air chambers that absorb impact energy in case of a fall.

CERAMIC SHELL:
A break- and scratch-resistant polycarbonate outer shell that is pressed onto an Hi-EPS body under high pressure and with intense heat. It’s UV-resistant and antistatic.

AIRFLOW VENTING:
The ventilation of the helmet is one factor that strongly influences wearing comfort. The well thought out arrangement of the ventilation openings is crucial for optimum ventilation of the interior. The air is channelled into the interior, where it is guided along the head and can flow out again at the rear end. The head is therefore always pleasantly ventilated.

FLY NET:
A mesh fabric in the front vents serves as an anti-insect mesh. It prevents insects from entering the helmet, thus protecting from insect stings without compromising on air flow.

ERGOMATIC:
The strap closure with a red press button and a multi-step ratchet mechanism can be operated with one hand only. It won't become loose in case of a fall.

Note:
The reflective design elements attached to the clothing as decoration do not represent a personal protective equipment as mentioned in EU regulation 2016/425. Thus, they are also not covered by the provisions of the regulation.
