For SHIMANO RAPIDFIRE PLUS MONO gear shifters for double systems, upshift by pushing the lever with your thumb until it locks into place like clicking a pen. The lever is released by pushing the lever once again with the thumb or by pulling it with the index finger. Once released, the front derailleur automatically shifts to the small chainring.
